Indonesia is known as a multicultural country with a diversity of religions, ethnic groups, cultures, and languages. This diversity is a valuable national asset, but it also presents challenges in maintaining the nation’s unity and cohesion. Therefore, the application of values of interfaith tolerance is a strategic step toward achieving a harmonious social life. Religious tolerance can be defined as an attitude of respect, appreciation, and granting freedom to every individual to practice their religious teachings and perform worship in accordance with their beliefs, without any discriminatory actions or coercion. This study aims to analyze the importance of promoting interfaith tolerance in fostering social harmony and to identify various factors influencing its implementation within communities. The approach employed is a literature review through the analysis of various scholarly sources, such as journals, books, and relevant research reports. Based on the findings, interfaith tolerance makes a significant contribution to minimizing the potential for social conflict, strengthening national integration, enhancing solidarity among communities, and supporting the achievement of sustainable national development. Furthermore, education, effective communication among religious groups, and government support are key factors that play a role in strengthening a culture of tolerance in Indonesia.
