ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF EARLY MARRIAGE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Abstract

This study aims to critically analyze the impact of early marriage on maternal and child health in developing countries, focusing on the short- and long-term consequences of the practice. This study uses a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach, which involves systematic searches of scientific literature from reputable international journals, reports from international institutions, and national health policies in various developing countries. The results of the study indicate that early marriage has a significant impact on increasing the risk of pregnancy complications, maternal and infant mortality, malnutrition, and low access to reproductive health services. Furthermore, it was found that evidence-based interventions involving the government sector, health workers, educators, religious leaders, and the media have high effectiveness in preventing early marriage and protecting the health of adolescent girls. Comprehensive sexual education, empowering women through education, and strengthening the role of midwives in the community are key strategies in reducing these negative impacts. This study makes an important contribution to formulating evidence-based maternal and child health policies in developing countries and encouraging cross-sector integration in efforts to prevent early marriage.
