Abstract

Rapid technological advancement and social change have made Generation Z a group living amid various dynamics and uncertainties. This condition has given rise to a range of mental health problems, one of which is the phenomenon of overthinking, or excessive thinking about a problem. This article aims to examine the phenomenon of overthinking among Generation Z in facing future uncertainty from a mental health perspective. The method used is a literature review, examining various national and international scientific articles published over the past five years. The results of the review show that overthinking among Generation Z is influenced by several factors, such as academic pressure, social demands, excessive social media use, and anxiety about the future. This condition contributes to increased stress, sleep disturbances, anxiety, decreased productivity, and even depression. Therefore, improved mental health literacy, social support, and the ability to regulate emotions and practice mindfulness are needed to help Generation Z face future uncertainty more adaptively.
