EVALUATION OF ACCURACY AND LINGUISTIC NUANCES IN MACHINE TRANSLATION OF DEEPL FOR INDONESIA-ENGLISH

This study aims to evaluate the accuracy and linguistic nuances in DeepL's machine translationoutput from Indonesian to English. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, analyzing ten sentences featuring diverse syntactic and pragmatic characteristics. Theresults indicate that DeepL performs well in translating standard sentence structures and literal meanings. However, limitations arise when the system encounters idiomatic expressions, emotional tone, andpragmatic context. The translations often become too literal or contextually inappropriate. Thus, while DeepL is effective for general understanding, human translators remain essential in contexts requiringprecise meaning and cultural sensitivity
