Abstract

Parents play a crucial role in a child's biological, psychological, and physical development. Parental warmth can make adolescents feel loved, accepted, and trusted, and foster a positive self-image. However, in reality, parents often force their will on their children to follow their parents' wishes, resulting in a strained parent-child relationship. Effective communication between parents and children is difficult to establish, a factor that can be attributed to generational differences between parents and adolescents. Although harsh parenting is often criticized, it remains a common practice worldwide. To address the negative impacts of harsh and negative parenting on adolescents, parental parenting styles need to be modified, one approach being mindful parenting, also known as awareness-based parenting. This study aimed to understand how mindful parenting can be implemented so that adolescents can grow up healthy and prosperous emotionally, mentally, and mentally. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative research with a literature review approach. Research shows that this parenting approach can encompass the dimensions of attentive listening, non-judgmental acceptance, emotional awareness, self-control, and compassion. Supportive techniques such as meditation, breathing exercises, and self-reflection can be implemented to ensure effective parenting, enabling adolescents to communicate openly and feel valued and accepted by their parents
